Candidate filing for Snohomish County and local office positions opens May 17th

Snohomish County candidate filing begins at 9:00 am on Monday, May 17th for the 2021 ballot.  178 offices are available for filing including five Mill Creek City Council positions, three county council positions, and a number of other important offices.

Snohomish County candidate filing begins at 9:00 am on Monday, May 17th, for the 2021 ballot.

178 offices are available for filing including county council districts 1, 4, and 5; city and town mayor and council positions; fire district commissioners; school board directors; and water and sewer district commissioners.

Five Mill Creek City Council positions are up for election in 2021 as follows:

  • John Steckler, position 1.
  • Stephanie Vignal, position 2.
  • Benjamin Briles, position 3.
  • Brian Holtzclaw, position 4.
  • Adam Morgan, position 6.

Candidates may file online at www.snoco.org/elections starting at 9:00 am on Monday, May 17th, until 4:00 pm on Friday, May 21st.  

In-person filing is available at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office May 17th through May 21st during the business hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The Snohomish County Auditor’s Office is located on the first floor of the Administration West Building at 3000 Rockefeller Avenue in Everett.

While Snohomish County Elections will be open during filing week, access to other departments and offices will remain limited due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Check the Snohomish County website at www.snoco.org for availability of services. 

To file for office, an individual must be a registered voter. Positions may have additional requirements such as being a registered voter within the district, residency within the city or town of at least one year, a minimum age, or a filing fee.

Requirements for each position can be found in the 2021 Candidate Guide posted at www.snoco.org/elections.

Each candidate will provide the following at the time of filing:

  • Name (as listed in the voter registration records).
  • Date of birth.
  • Email address.
  • Filing fee (if applicable).
