From a Rotary Club of Mill Creek press release.
The February 2021 Students of the Month were selected with the theme of Art.
The February Rotary Club of Mill Creek Student of the Month from Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy High School is Jaelyn Ashley.
The Fine Arts Department at Archbishop Murphy High School recognizes Jaelyn for both her artistic skills and commitment to art as a form of expression.
Jaelyn has shown growth and maturity throughout her years at AMHS.
When presented with a project, she is able to weave her own self-expression and sense of self into each of her works of art. A project is not simply an assignment to her, but rather a space to explore her own ideas and complexities within our world.
This young creator has the potential to inspire others with her beautiful yet thought provoking style. We look forward to seeing the awe inspiring good that comes from her creativity.
The Rotary Club of Mill Creek honors Students of the Month from Henry M. Jackson High School, Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy High School, and Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center at the second weekly meeting of each month during the school year.
After being chosen by the principal and staff of their school based on the month's theme, the students and their families are invited to the meeting where each student speaks about their accomplishments and receives a Rotary Club of Mill Creek Student of the Month Certificate.
Rotary Club members can also ask questions of each student about their interests, goals and future plans.
Although the meetings are held via ZOOM during COVID, hopefully the students will soon be able to return to live meetings.
