Two injured in Mariner area fire

Two men were injured in an early morning fire that displaced 16 residents at an apartment complex in the Mariner neighborhood south of Everett. Firefighters and EMTs from multiple fire agencies responded to the Sunday, May 16, 2021, 911 calls.

Two men were injured in an early morning fire that displaced 16 residents at an apartment complex in the Mariner neighborhood south of Everett.

Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls around 3:40 am reporting flames visible in a three-story building at the Hangar 128 Apartments in the 13000 block of 8th Ave. W.

Two men, who lived in the second-floor unit where the fire started, were injured. One of the men was exposed to smoke and was transported by firefighters to the hospital for evaluation. The other man sustained minor injuries and was treated by firefighters at the scene. There were no other injuries.

South County Fire was assisted by Everett Fire and Snohomish County Regional Fire & Rescue.

Fire damage was contained to the second-floor unit where the fire started and the balcony of the apartment above. Three neighboring apartment units sustained smoke and water damage.

Support 7 and Red Cross responded to assist the residents displaced by the fire.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating how the fire started and estimates the property loss at $75,000.
